Nice article and I think your premise is valid -- it's a pain to go to the doctor and doctor visits aren't where the big health expenditures lie.
Having said that, we have 80 employees so we purchase through a broker an off-the-shelf plan. We have no market clout.
So guess what? If we choose the plan with the lower deductibles, etc we pay higher premiums.
And since our knowledge of the health status of our employees/dependants is not known, we receive no measurable benefit from providing a more generous plan.
So while your article makes sense for the P&Gs of the world, it doesn't seem to apply to us little guys, who are already getting hosed.
