The Tribune Co., headquartered in Chicago, has appointed Melanie Hughes as executive vice president of human resources. She is responsible for all of the company's HR functions, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, organizational development and employee relations.

Since August 2012, Hughes has led her own consulting practice, Org4Change, specializing in strategy and organizational development and building executive teams. Prior to that, she served as chief administration officer for Gilt Groupe, and was responsible for customer service, creative services, human resources, facilities and sales operations. She has also served as senior vice president of human resources at COACH, where she managed HR programs for 10,000 employees.
