What It Is: SumTotal elixHR serves as a virtual system of record that integrates disparate data and processes onto a single platform, thereby giving employers a unified view of their talent, including their knowledge, skills and abilities. elixHR leverages data from both internal and third-party systems. It features master-data-management technology that processes, consolidates and standardizes the data into a single model, and applies business rules and security to create context. In turn, employers are able leverage the context of the data to deliver tools and activities that can support employees as they perform their jobs. Features include portal and portlet capabilities that allow the intermingling of SumTotal and non-SumTotal applications on a single platform; social and mobile capabilities that bring applications to users wherever they may be; and workforce analytics and planning tools that support decision-making. elixHR was released in April and is included at no additional cost with all SumTotal talent applications.
Why We Like It: It's rare to run across an HR leader who isn't frustrated by the fact that so much of his or her data exists on disparate HR systems. In an effort to address this, SumTotal has released a new platform that gives employers a unified view of their organization's talent -- or, as SumTotal executives put it, "a single source of truth." HR leaders no doubt will appreciate the fact that they can achieve this without time-consuming systems consolidation. But they also should like the way the platform improves overall access to information and enables better decision-making. Equally impressive is elixHR's ability to capture "context" and feed relevant information, tools and activities to employees so they can be more productive in their jobs.
