What It Is: RAVE is a mobile and web-based platform designed to facilitate communications, engagement, recognition, promotion, incentives, learning and brand management. Built for mobile devices first and web second -- i.e., specifically designed as an app -- it's geared for serving and reaching audiences on the go. It also has the capability to share recognitions and announcements with personal Facebook, Twitter and email accounts. Features include customizable mobile-learning programs, a secure and private social-networking environment for connecting across an organization, promotions and incentive tools to help product and brand managers drive their messages to the front lines, and alerts and push messages designed to put corporate information into the hands of employees. The product works with all smart phones and tablets, and has a reporting function allowing managers and top leaders to see activity levels in any given initiative. BI describes its pricing as "nominal setup and then priced based on audience size with discounts for large audiences." More specifically, a company could launch and operate RAVE for an audience of up to 5,000 employees for less than $20,000 per year (or roughly $4 per employee).

Why We Like It: First off, we know of no other company that has started with the app design first, web second in this particular space. We also like its uncluttered and straightforward focus on social-media communications designed to connect an entire organization on the fly, which most organizations are these days, in such a positive and productive way. With more and more employees living with and through technology -- not just millennials, but certainly they're the early adopters -- RAVE seems to be a simple, yet also robust and complete way to connect and engage employees. The fact that it can also connect with personal social-media and email accounts so anyone can brag to their non-work friends about work-related kudos is a nice bridge between work life and home life.
