With seemingly no end to the variety of health plans offered by vendors, some employers may need to seek out guidance from an expert source before determining which CDHPs they should offer to their employees.
One such company providing advice in this arena is Unum, a Chattanooga, Tenn.-based provider of employee benefits products and services.
"There are so many different kinds of consumer-directed plans -- from Health Savings Accounts to High Deductible Health Plans," says Lydia Jilek, director of product and market development for Unum.
She says Unum has produced a series of guides for employers to help them track when healthcare reform changes go into effect, as well as one-page reference sheets that cover all CDHP elements.
"[Our guides] offer objective information on what the plans are, how they work and how combining them with traditional or voluntary benefits may help employees close financial gaps they could face with new high-deductible plans," Jilek says.
