What It Is: Dayforce, released in May 2009, is an enterprise application with comprehensive workforce-management functionality, including workforce budgeting, labor planning, scheduling, task management, time and attendance, skills management, HRMS and employee self-service.

The solution is built as a single application rather than a suite, and features KPIs (key performance indicators) at the core of each Dayforce module. Its planning module gives users the ability create plans based on projections from KPIs.

The scheduling module, meanwhile, provides real-time visibility into the potential effects of schedule changes on department KPIs, floor coverage, schedule policies and employee-availability constraints. Dayforce can be deployed on-premise or via Software-as-a-Service.

Pricing varies, depending on the number of employees and modules.

Why We Like It: Dayforce incorporates many of the same features of other workforce-management solutions, but it's done in a way that's likely to generate a high-degree of manager buy-in. Users, be they managers or employees, should appreciate the product's ease of use and highly pleasing user interface, which is apparent throughout the entire application.

For example, in its schedule module, managers can drag and drop people onto a schedule, immediately showing them the effects of those changes.

The net result of this feature and others should be much-more engaged and empowered front-line managers who, hopefully, will be able to make better decisions, as well as employees who are going to be much more likely to take advantage of the application's capabilities.
