State Law Guide

State laws affecting victims of domestic violence vary. Some states require paid time off for victims while others prohibit discrimination, among other things. Legal Momentum, the nation's oldest legal advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the rights of women and girls, keeps an updated list of state laws on its site.

The New York-based organization also has information available for employers on statistics, legal guidelines. the Safe@Work Coalition, a model employment policy and recommended policy provisions.
